Assistant Accountant

Taffs Well

Reporting to: Group Reporting Accountant

Main Purpose of Role:

To assist the Group Reporting Accountant in providing robust financial information and accounting control and deliver on key responsibilities listed below. To work effectively within the Finance Team and across the business.


  • Assisting with month end and year end accounts

  • Preparing month end journals, including accruals and provisions

  • Stock valuation

  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register

  • Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Conducting internal audits of trade depots

  • Reviewing purchase invoices, checking for accuracy and consistency of allocation

  • Monitoring of customer spend and calculating rebates

  • Assisting with Annual Audit

  • Providing support to Group Reporting Accountant and the FP&A team

  • Support Continuous Improvement activities across Finance

  • Any other duties as requested by Group Reporting Accountant

Technical Competence:

  • AAT qualified or studying towards Accountancy qualifications

  • Strong Excel user

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Experience working in a finance team (min one year)

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy

  • Time Management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • Committed to personal development

  • Travel will be required


  • Experience of working in a manufacturing or similar environment

  • Experience with Stock valuation & Capex.

  • Prior use of Sage 200 or other ERP system
