Credit Controller

Reporting to: Group Credit Manager

Main Purpose of Role:

This role sits within the Credit Control function of Finance, reporting into the Group Credit Manager.  The role function is to take full ownership and responsibility for the assigned accounts on the sales ledger.


  • Support company cash flow by collecting all monies due on time

  • Build and maintain relationships with both customers and internal departments

  • Maintain account contact information and good housekeeping practices

  • Maintain account terms and HOLD orders where appropriate (CM) approval

  • Proactively investigate and resolve customer queries or disputes

  • Negotiate and manage payment plans with customers with cash flow problems (CM) approval

  • Ensure regular credit risk checks and monitoring is carried on customer live accounts

  • Log all activity relating to customers ledger on Credit Hound, such as queries, tasks, and call backs

  • Provide support and information collaboratively within the business

  • Work towards all KPI’s and Targets with the objective to reduce debt and DSO

  • Travel to other sites / offices as and when required

Technical Competence:

  • Advanced Microsoft EXCEL skills (PIVOT TABLES, V & H Lookup)

  • Good knowledge measuring Credit Risk and Customer Financial Accounts

  • Competence using accounting software ERP and various Microsoft Systems

  • Reconcile large customer accounts in EXCEL

  • Capable of using various CRM Business Systems when trained

  • Run Aged Debt reports and update for regular credit reviews with CM

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Previous Credit Control experience essential

  • Working in a fast-paced office environment (advantage)

  • Numerical and Analytical Competence

  • Knowledge of SAGE 200 (desirable)

  • Knowledge of Credit Hound (desirable)

  • Work independently and able to prioritise workload

  • Provide cover for absences within the Credit Control Team
